Katherine F.H. Heart, GPC, M.Ed. has 22 years of experience providing social mission-driven grant services to nonprofit organizations in Western PA including 16 years offering grant training regionally and nationally through Heart Resources LLC.
Katherine earned the Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential in 2013 and was named the first Approved Trainer by the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) in 2014. She was honored with the President's Award from the Grant Professionals Certification Institute (GPCI) in 2019 for facilitating the first nationwide Virtual GPC Study Group and developing a GPA webinar, published strategy paper, and eBook to guide future study groups with JulieAnna Carsen, GPC (JVG Synergies, LLC, Arizona). In 2022, she shared the President’s Award for volunteer service as a GPC Ambassador with others nationwide. In 2024, Katherine received the Pauline G. Annarino Award from GPCI for her efforts in developing future GPC Study Group leaders including sharing free resources for future GPC study groups.

Comprehensive Grant Services - Heart Resources LLC is registered as a Fundraising Counsel with the Pennsylvania Department of State, Bureau of Corporations and Charitable Organizations to provide grant services to nonprofit organizations in the Commonwealth. Pre/post-award services include annual grant planning and consultation, public and private funder research for programs, capital, and operating support, proposal writing, grant budget development, post-award external monitoring, and report writing. Katherine provides federal grant reviews in areas of subject matter expertise and prepares Request for Proposals (RFP) for funders.
Grant Training Services - Regional and national nonprofit organizations can request in-person and virtual workshops and courses to improve grant knowledge, skills, and performance from a GPA Approved Trainer with a full curriculum of peer-reviewed courses. All content is aligned with the nationally recognized competencies and skills of the grant profession.
Grant Train-Coach-Mentor Service - Katherine assists grant staff and teams in building grant competencies and skills in real-time using their pending draft applications. Participants receive targeted training, work plans, proposal reviews, coaching, and suggested edits. This targeted feedback has assisted high-stakes quick-turnaround grant applications to be funded. She is a mentor for the GPA Mentor Match Program. In 2023-24, she served as a mentor for the Catalysts for Community (C4C) Program led by the GPA Arkansas Chapter and funded by the Walton Family Foundation.
Train-the-Grant Trainer Service - Katherine equips grant and fundraising professionals with shared slides and feedback to provide grant presentations.
Social Benefit Work:
Katherine has volunteered her expertise and time to local community projects and contributed to publications and webinars for the grant profession.
She is a Co-Facilitator and GPC Ambassador for the Grant Café, a free monthly meetup providing “hot grant topics, speakers, and networking.” In collaboration with colleagues, the Grants Cafe has grown to 1000+ members since 2016.
